Remington has had a huge effect on all of us. At my workplace several people know I am Dutch, and I guess we have this cloud hanging over our head that saysdutch peopleare cheap. I do not agree with that since there is a difference between cheap and not wasting money. Anyhow, the joke goes around that I could not afford a 4 legged dog, so I got myself a three legged one. Some people might take this as a cruel joke, I do not however. Without laughter the world would be worse of.
So my wife and Remington visited Pet Smart yesterday and got Remington the full package. He apparently was really behaving well and had no problem being shampood or manicured. Remington had his ears and teeth cleaned (btw, he had superb white teeth already) and his coat was trimmed so it will blend in with the area were he was shaved. Unfortunately was not able to make pictures. Pet Smart did a superb job. He looks very well and the bandana around his neck adds to that.
Tricia Leslie from the Abbotsford News just left after having an interview with us. Remington was very exited and greeted her at the door. After a few minutes ofsniffing and jumping up onher, he finally lay down and had us continue the interview. Then it was time for the photo session which was not too easy since Bentley was very exited too and they just made a mess of it. Remington apparently has a thing for cameras since he jumped up at it every time and tried to lick it. He also was very interested in the antenna of Tricia's mobile scanner as he started to chew on it, but no harm done. Finally we had the 2 boys in position for a few shots, but it was not for long. Dog biscuitseventually did the trick and they settled down on the couch for a portrait. And yes, you guessed it, after Tricia left they were so tired that a picture could have been taken without a problem.
A week has gone by since the interview and Remington feels at home like never before. One can not tell that this once was a stray dog. He adjusts well to any situation instantly. When we picked him up in Chilliwack he was in the back of the Blazer insidea portable SPCA kennel. Laid down right away and never barked or whined till we got home. A few days later the wife took him in the car to get his grooming done and he acted like it was regular business. So today , Mothers day,me and my sontook him to my workplace in my pickup truck. He only wanted to go in thru the drivers door and lay down quickly once in. He loved riding in the truck. Before we went back home we let Remington run on the large fenced parking lot and had the passenger side door open. We called him so he could get in and he came from the other side of the truck. Did not want to go in thru the passenger side door. Walked around and had no problem on the drivers side. Hopped in and he enjoyed the ride back, looking all over the place and finally laying his head in my lap and fell asleep. Five minutes later we were home and since this was the first time Bentley and Remington were seperated, the welcome ceremony was enormous. Bentley smelled and licked him like he had found his long lost son. Remington was as excited. |
